upgraded valve springs

I'm rebuilding my euro 3.2 and beefing up everything with raceware head studs as well as raceware rod bolts. I want to use stiffer than stock valve springs and ti retainers for some over-rev insurance. My question is this:

Who would you recommend for upgraded valve springs and retainers?

I will be using stock cams. The car will be used for both DE and street. Thanks in advance.

EBS Racing. The sell racing springs and Titanium retainers.

Would you chose their springs over Jerry Woods or Competition Engineering, or are all aftermarket upgraded spring pretty much the same?

I went with the AASCO springs. You will need to have the spring seats/cups machined (very easy job) to fit the springs. Jerry Wood's may include new seats which would save you a step.

Anyone know the specs on these aftermarket springs?

Thanks in advance.

As usual clean and check even new parts.

I'm also looking for replacement springs....and would like to use Vasco-Jet if possible.
I know they are expensive (not much more) than stock springs...but they last forever and 3 days.
We used to use them in drag engines, and would re-use them for years.

Wonder what the difference between the EBS VMAX and Smart Racing springs are?

I know EBS uses a coated spring and xray's 'em... I'm using them, they still work after one season, so far, so good.

Bill Verburg 02-09-2004 06:38 PM

EBS sems to be big into coatings(as are quite a few other tuners), anything can be coated and it does work. I suspect but have no proof that most spring kits are supplied form only a few ultimate sources.

Since Smart Racing is associated with Jerry Woods, one might assume that the Smart Racing springs = Jerry Woods springs.
The AASCO springs I have look kinda bluish if I remember correctly. Probably some sort of coating.
