machine shop recommendation
I am doing the top end on my '82 sc. This is after speaking with Competative engineering and Ollie's. I hear they are great. They are a little pricy however (I know, you get what you pay for). Anyway, I am not rich and do not have tons to throw at her so I am trying to be intelligent about this but not so cheap as to kill it. Oh, the reason for the top end it that 3 head studs broke. It has between 120k and 130k. I was going to do a full rebuild until I spoke to CE. They told me a top end would be fine as these engines should do double what I have,
All advice appreciated and don't worry, I won't look at MM! |

Engine Builders Supply/EBS Racing...look in any Pano or Excellence or go to www.ebsracing.com.

Contact your local PCA chapter and ask who the members use locally. You might also want to poll your local P-Car garages to see who they use.

Mark,
I just used Ollies on all machine work for my 3.6. I found them to be affordable and within my budget. Email me if you want details and price. On a side note, I am not rich and I do not have money to throw away like yourself. That's why I'm doing this rebuild myself!

Thanks John. I have found Ollies to be the most affordable of the best reccommended machine shops. I am most likely to go with them at the moment. Now to tear into my SC.

Ollies is an extreemly competent, very experienced Porsche machine shop. You can't go wrong with them. Same for CE.

I agree with HarryD.
If you have some local reputable Porsche mechanics you can ask them who they outsource to. Most don't do their own and many will tell you who they use. When I did this in Denver I had 3 fo 5 tell me the same local guy does all their head work, so I used him. But for all my casework, I sent it to EBS.
