What Rifle bore cleaners to use?

Still working on cleaning my case!! Nearly there.

Stopped into a local gun store today on the way to my client and looked at a whole lot of bore cleaners. The copper spiraled brushes used to clean barrels. I want to use a couple to clean out my case. I thought they'd have a 'one size fits all' but that's not the case. Can you tell I'm a big gun owner?

Now since I'm in Dallas now (at work) and not at home (Chicago) I can't measure the oil passages that I want to clean. Here's my question: Do I go 12 gauge for the case through bolts or 10 Guage? What about the others? Ideas?

Thanks much for the time.

12 gauge worked fine for through-bolt holes. Copper brushes shed quite a bit, see if they have stainless.

Just get a variety of smaller brushes for everything else, and a big one for the oil pressure valve bores. My total investment was less than 20 bucks and got half a dozen brushes.

Like dtw said, probably best to steer clear of the common copper brushes. The bristles break off when you reverse the brush in the bore. Stainless or plastic would be better. I picked up a good plastic bristle brush for the oil galeries at the hardware store (Tru Value).
