Idler Arm to Tensioner clearance
Hi all
I'm using Carrera tensioners and updated idler arms on my 2.4E but after installing them I've noticed about a 5mm clearance between the idler arm and the tensioner on the ider arm pivot (I'll post a photo if this isn't clear) is this normal? does the idler arm 'float' in this range? Being paranoid I might test my old idler arms and tensioners to set what the gap is Thanks Neven |

I think this is normal with the Carrera tensioner upgrade. There are little aluminum spacers to install if you use the old style tensioner sprocket with the Carrera tensioner. It doesn't sound you need them (or you already have them) because the gap would be more like 10 to 15mm without it.
You might want to do some searching on this topic to double check, I think I asked a similar question several months ago.

I had the same Q last month. I had the same gap. Nothing is to be added. No parts fill the void. I sealed it up and am running with it.

Very common question - been answered about 10-15 times in these forums. Bottomline - it's normal.
