993 Head Stud Part # and Description
As pictured in Wayne's book, the new 993 Dilivar head studs appear to almost fully threaded the entire length of the stud and black epoxied. Someone is showing me some head studs with a part # 993 101 170 51 but they do not match the studs in Wayne's book. They are threaded on the tips only and grey epoxy along the shaft. Can anyone shed light on the subject as to whether these are 993TT Dilivar studs as advertised or do they seem like something else? Thanks for the feedback,
Duane '79SC

CORRECTION: they are black epoxy, they just don't appear to be fully threaded. Is this OK?

I have had the lack of threading explained to me this way:
The threads provide a location for dirt and moisture to collect. Over time this becomes a corrosive environment that can weaken your fastener. It is for this reason that the threading is usually not included in the middle section of an extended fastener.
