JE Pistons and GE Cams

Hi,

Anyone have any experience with the JE 10.5:1 pistons and GE60 or "S" cams. Do the standard pistons have a deep enough pocket, do they need machining or are they special order?

Do GE40 cams work with these off the shelf pistons?

Cheers

Mark......

Hopefully from us - give Eugene a call, he'll hook you up with pricing...

I can't seem to find that info here (I'm at home) - I would suggest a call to JE. I know that they have several different types of piston domes, but I don't know off the top of my head what they are for these pistons...

I'm running the "off the shelf" 9.5:1 J&Es with Early S-Cams, and the piston to valve clearance is huge. 2.5mm intake and 4.0mm exhaust, if I remember right. The standard valve pockets are obviously cut for very agressive cams. I'm sure the 10.5:1 is the same or deeper.

Good luck.

Ditto - my 10.5:1 JEs have huge relief- they had aftermarket hot cams in mind when they designed the dome profile. GE60s are not super-hot cams compared to the full range of cam options, I think you will clear no problem. Just an opinion though, I understand your desire to get more specific assurance...
