Update on the turd and question on ring gaps

Well the Flying Turd's motor is FINALLY on the stand with the bottom end all buttoned up but I've got some questions about gapping JE pistons.

I've got a set of 84mm 10.5:1 Je's that I plan to shim down to 10.0:1 or less. The pistons are brand new but my end gaps seem to be all messed up. The ring lads are great though. I'm supposed to be running between at a minumum 0.457mm of end gap on my top ring and .482mm on my 2nd ring(According to JE). Here are the gaps that I measured.
#1 #2
1 0.533 0.508
2 0.533 0.406
3 0.457 0.381
4 0.559 0.432
5 0.559 0.406

(they only included 5 sets of rings  )

These gaps seem huge compared to the factory spec of 0.15-0.45.

My cylinders are SUPPOSED to be in spec and seemed to be when I used a bore guage to measure them but I haven't had any bore guage experience at all. If they are in spec why do these gaps seem all messed up. The part that I don't get is the fact that the #1 ring is visably longer than the #2 rings but they come out with more gap. I've checked these gaps on multiple locations within the cylinder and they came out the same everytime. Anyone have any ideas if these gaps sound reasonable, absurd, or just plain floppy?
