Camshaft Shim Question ????

Wayne,

I see that you have an update to the book on your website. I was getting woried after I measured the shims and saw the reference in the book. I also checked Bruce andersons book and it refered to a .20 mm shim! Nowthat I know that the factory used .50 mm shims are your shims part# A-105-561-00 .50 mm? And is the target still to be within .25 mm?

Thanks,
Bill

Page 159 - The value 54.8mm should be subtracted, not added to the value. Also, the shim thickness is 0.50mm, not 0.25mm

Yes, the shims are .50mm, and you should be trying to get as close as possible, within reason. Reason says that you should be able to get within .25mm by swapping .50mm shims...

It's also real difficult to perform this measurement without the alignment tool...

Ok, Thanks Wayne. I purchased the Stromsky tool for this operation and it works great! Do you guys also sell the mechanical tensioners like the ones from stromsky? I will be placing an order with you on monday for the shims and would like to get everything from you if possible. Are you still sending out the discount coupons after an order?

By the way, I have been very happy with the support and service I get from Pelican. Price is not everything whan it comes to working on these cars! You can't buy this kind of support from any other Porsche Parts vendors!
