Oil pressure relieve valve - questions
I want to change the oil pressure relieve valve spring and the oil pressure safety valve spring and the pistons. I am wondering how much oil will come out of there if I take them apart without draining the oil first. A little bit, a couple of quarts or all? Has anyone done this before without draining the oil?
How tough is it to get the pistons out of there. Will a magnet work? Ingo

Bird. It's the word...

Both those caps are very low on the engine. I imagine it would be just like undoing the sump plug! If it's new(ish) oil I'd drain the oil into a clean 98c bucket and return the oil when you're finished.

One mine not much more than a quart. Also depends on how fast you work. A magnet worked for me to get the piston out.

I figured the oil pressure relieve valve dumps into the gravity feed line. Wouldn't that dump the entire tank once I take the piston out?
Anyway, I have to change the oil pretty soon. So I just hold off on it. Ingo
