Help - Stuck Rocker Arm Bushing
Quite a few of my rocker arm bushing are stuck inside the rocker arm shaft. Any idea how could I get them out?
A related question - does it mean that they have over-expanded the shaft in this case? Meaning the shaft is useless / should be replaced? I didn't have any leaks prior to disassembly though... thanks

Do you mean the rocker arm shafts are stuck in the bores of the aluminum cam tower? Or do you mean the rocker arms are stuck on the shafts (the bushing of the rocker arm is what runs on the rocker arm shaft). If the engine was running, the rocker arm bushings were once free to rotate on the rocker arm shafts. Are the pinch bolts loosened? Are the cam tower rocker shaft bores fully cleaned of dirt and debris? Jim

Hi Jim,
The bushing is stuck in the rocker shaft. I removed the bolt & the 8mm nut but this 5mm end just "glue" to the shaft. I cleaned the shaft as best as I can but still can't push/pry it out of the rocker shaft. ![]() Patrick.

you have to run it out with a hammer and drift. be careful not to damage the rocker shaft bore with the drift. they don't generally just push out easily.

Thanks you John... Will give that a try
![]() So it sounds like if I didn't cause any damage with my hammer/drift, then the rocker shafts are re-useable? Thanks.

probably. look for wear on the shaft from the rocker bushings. they get quite a notch sometimes.
