I will be rebuildign my 80 euro SC 3.0 liter do to head stud. This is what I am thinking of doing as upgrades... bumpin up displacement to 3.2 with maybe 10.5:1 CR non CIS 98mm P&C's. S cams. 24 raceware head studs. Port and polish heads, valve job, new valve guides, and dual plugs. 46 PMO and some sort of dual plug spark system ( dont know if going dual distributor or electronic yet) and finally SSI or headers. a few little questions: What kinda power am I lookin at? I am figuring this will cost arround 9K to DIY. Am I close? Am I missing anything? what kinda machining is required on the case for the 98mm P&C's? I am reading books as much as I can.... hershey day is closin fast, and I need to define my final motor configuration before then...and maybe even start on the teardown... thanks in advance! |
I'd say prepare yourself for around 240 to 250 hp.
9K is about the right ball park with about 1K to spare, I think. I've never heard of a need to machine the case for 98mm. Just slip in the P&Cs, though I could be wrong. Whatever the case, your plans sounds great! Update us often with your progress. :) |
46 carbs might be too big honestly. the s cams might be too lumpy for street driving especially if you plan on using carbs. as far as the ignition, electramotive makes a stand alone unit which eliminates the dizzy. two coil packs, a trigger and your off.

Wow, that sounds like a great engine. You'll need to build the engine to spin to around 7500 rpm to get the most out of it. I agree that 46 carbs might be to big for the street. Talk to Richard at PMO. I disagree that S-cams/Webers are too lumpy. On a 3.2 they will be very streetable. Seems like I just said that somewhere else...
