Camshaft housing for mine is 930 105 021 00 on my 80's 930. The 964 part designation means it is from the later 964 models.

I've seen the 964 casting number on a friends '88 911 cam carrier. The valve cover studs on the 964 cars ('89-94) are 6mm instead of 8mm i.e. the parts are different but they started with the same casting.

If you've got 964 cam carriers (6mm studs) you'd need to use 964 covers. If that is what you have it might be easier/cheaper to sell your 964 carriers and get 911/930 ones.

does it matter if i use the 964 cam covers ? i know the 930turbo covers are stronger but if i can find some good used 964 covers would they do?

They might leak (they do on 964's I'm told) and even used valve covers won't be cheap. The oil feed line for the 964's is different, I don't know if 964 top covers will clear the old oil lines. I think I tried this this years ago but I can't remember.
