Dumb, Dumb Question on Rebuild

What is the little metal disk that was included on my rebuild kit? It's a circular ring and is bevelled on each side. NOt sure what the metal is but is seems like it's soft. I don't see any reference to it in the rebuild book.

Sorry for the dumb question.

I dont know what is the use of that soft metal ring too. Anyone can explain what is it use?

It goes in the exhaust someplace I think. My 944S2 uses a similar one at the joint between two parts of the exhaust.

Just talked to Storz garage in Denver and they confirm. It's a gasket for the cross-over pipe. I'm just glad it's not suppose to go inside my engine.

...the seal in the clamp on the cross over pipe?

I don't know exactly where it goes, but that's where it goes. I trust what they say. They've been doing it for decades.
