Cam Question for 2.7

Hello everyone , new to the board, I have some questions regarding cams for my 77 2.7 engine. The left cam has 911.141.00 stamped on the key way and the right cam has 911.144.00, if i read Wayne's rebuild book correctly is the left cam for an earlier car? I think it should be 911.143.00. Will this effect how the engine runs? Is Timing going to be a problem?

Thanks In advance.

Jason,

If the cams have not been reground, then you have mismatched ones (911 plain on the left and 911S on the right). Camshaft stamped numbers can be notoriously inaccurate, because they can easily be reground to different profiles. The only real way of telling is to map the cam, and this is difficult to do yourself (accurately).

On a side note, I do have a set of 911S cams that are all reground and ready to go (the ones featured in the book). I never used them, except for display purposes and pictures for the book. I'm looking to get $495 for them, but would probably bargain...

Wayne, Thanks for the reply, I am interested in the cams you have for sale. I do not trust the shop that sent me the cams, they have messed up quite a bit of stuff with mismatched parts. Unfortunetely when i was in the process of tear down and machine work your book was not available and i did not research the shop as well as i should have, oh well live and learn, any way back to the cams what is the best way of purchasing them from you?
