Blue smoke from tail pipe
I get occasional blue smoke at start up and sometimes during idle. My porsche mechanic said it was a sticky piston oil ring and not to worry about it. The engine runs strong so I doubt there's anything wrong with the compression rings.
My car is a 91 964 C2. Not sure about the mileage, maybe about 60,000 miles. Anything to worry about? |

What is your oil consumption?

Just recently bought the car, haven't really check yet. I don't mind constantly adding oil if the consumption is on the high side. The motor runs real strong, it has no cats or heat exchanger, could that be making it run rich to cause the blus smoke?

It could also be the intake valve stem seals. Either way it might be time for a top end refresh unless you can live with the embarassment of the puffs.
