Need New Nuts?

Just dropped the heat exchangers on my 993 (to give the 2ndary air injection ports an enema). How critical is it to replace the heat exchanger nuts with new ones? The old ones appear to be in good condition and I don't really want to have to make the journey to the dealer for new nuts if I don't have to.

CORROSION

I just replaced mine because they were heavily corroded and 27 years old. If they look ok and dont have any rust cover the threads with antiseize and you should be fine.

I guess my concern is that by design these don't have lock washers so, I assume, the nuts are of a "self locking" design, that might not be reusable.

It'll be easy enough to check the 21 ft/lbs torque in a couple weeks, but don't want to stress over them beyond that.

Thanks!

Get new barrell nuts and new copper self-locking nuts (upgrade from the factory ones). You'll be doing yourself a favor if you ever drop the exhaust again...
