rebuild complete, engine won't start...part 2
I had a post earlier in the week about the fact that my '78 SC 3.0 engine wouldn't start without the help of manipulating the air sensor plate, and that it acted like it had a horrible timing problem.
What I found, after I dropped the engine again, is that I probably had a big vacuum leak. Where the aluminum tubes from the aux air reg. and aux air valve join together into one, and then plug into the intake, just below the cold start valve, behind the throttle body...the plastic nozzle which accepted the tube was broken off. The replacement is a sort of elongated diamond shaped piece of plastic which holds the cold start valve, and the aux air vaccum tube. I spoke with Dave at Performance Imports, in Atlanta, who is going to give me a replacement tomorrow. Hopefully, it will all be back together sometime tomorrow afternoon, and that will be the end of the problem. Thanks once again to evryone for all the help. |
Probably happened when you were re-installing the engine. Cross your fingers that this fix will do the trick. Trying to track downt he kind of problem you had can be a real pia.

Fingers are crossed...
