Good info on this thread.
Can you guys comment on Norris Ti spring retainers? Any experience with them? Thanks, Sherwood |
Good quality, but he hasn't made any in a while. I tried to have him make a large quantity but after 9 months of little or no response I gave up.
If you have some use them. |

Do you really think a well-build stock 2.7 longblock is safe to 7500? If so, I'm changing my rev-limiter. My 2.8 is just getting going at 7K. Why do you think stock 2.7 CIS engines are factory limited to 6.5K? Thanks for you insight. JP |
The stock 2.7 CIS engine had a 6500 RPM rev limit because it didn't make any hp above that. The factory also knew they were running this engine lean with the designed it. Sustained lean running makes the engine run hot and 2.7 CIS engine ran too hot already.
A 2.7 capable of making horse power at 7200 ( 2.7RS) is safe to run there. The problem with the 2.7 was not valve train. It was that at sustained high RPM the cranks broke. That is why they redesigned the crank in a 3.0 with narrow rods and wider fly weights. This fragel crank is the main reason for the 2.8RSR crank that was installed in all factory race engine of that size. |
