2.2 and 2.4 Heads on 2.0 Engine

Hi Wayne

I have a '69S coupe. The engine is being rebuilt. I'm looking for and having a hard time finding a 2.0 liter S cylinder head to replace a cracked one. I was hoping to keep everything stock with the restoration in general. If I really get stuck though should I go with your suggestion on page 89 of your 911 Engines book and upgrade to the 2.2 or 2.4 heads? I assume there are a number of other changes required as well in that route. Can you give me an idea of what's involved. There just seemed to be more of those heads availble on the forum.

Thanks for any advice.

A.T.

P.S. Really enjoy your books.

There is really not much else involved with going to 2.2/2.4 heads... how are the other 5 heads? Are you going to be using mechanical fuel injection?

The other heads are all in good shape. I hope to continue to use the MFI.

They're around. You might need to buy someone else's short lot of 5 to get the one you want plus a few spares. Otherwise, turn around the extra pieces on E-Bay.

Try a search through the Pelican classifieds and contact the people who have tried to sell them in the last year. You might find that they still have them. Otherwise, set up your E-bay acount with a search for "911 2.0 S heads" and an automatic email notification when they turn up.

Thanks, John. I didn't know you could do that with Ebay.

You can modify an early head to 2.0"S" spec. It's not cheap but it can be done.
Installing 2.2 or 2.4 heads on a 2.0 cylinder is accomplished with the Supertec cylinder conversion kit.
Call, email or check the website.
