Did my valves and piston hit?

I was turn my flywheel by hand trying to get to TDC and I hear a click sound. Then I realized that I had the chain tensioners out on one side. Could that have caused the timing to get messed up and lead to a collision b/t a valve and piston?

Maybe. More likely, you heard the sound of the chain going slack, then the slack being taken up quickly by the valve springs acting on the cam, rapidly snapping it back.

Check to see if any of your valve clearances are suddenly a lot looser. If so, do a leakdon on that cylinder.

I'm guessing you're O.K., but you can do the above for some peace of mind.

What are the details of you're motor?

Pray they didn't!

Those valves are one year only and Veery spendy..

But normally worn out anyway of course..the 69S is not really the 911 motor to learn the trade on..

Kind regards
David

I am pretty sure they didn't. I got the motor on TDC and the flywheel lock is on. I will shortly take the rockers off, the cam out, and remove the chainbox and cam tower. Then I will check the valves and pistons. I am enjoying it very much so far. Thanks for the concern.
