2.2 litre

I am buying a car with a new(rebuild) 2.2 litre. The details that I know about it are: Counter weighted crankshaft, "E" cams and pistons, weber carbs,1967 sand cast, crank case, headers and Electromotive spark system. Will this make a good street package?

If the case has had the squirters installed and layshaft bearing mod then you are golden. Does the seller have documentation of what went into the engine?

"Layshaft bearing mod"? Sounds like something I need for my aluminium 2.0S engine
when we rebuild it. Any pointers?

The early mag case engine did not have bearings for the layshaft to run on. The result is that after a lot of miles the mag case wears out. The early aluminum case did not have these bearings either but the aluminum stood up to the wear better and there were not as many problems. I have never seen an aluminum case needing to be machined for layshaft bearings, but I have heard of it happening. If you machine the case for bearings you will need to update to the later style intermediate shaft.
