Listing places to recondition alusil
I thought that it would be a good idea to list all of the shops, their info and prices that recondition alusil cylinders. So far I have found:
Motorworks on Island st in San Diego - $32 each |
I'm just curous what do you mean by recondition?
Does this process use the special machine and paste to help promote new ring seal? If so, this is probably a good deal (and news) for Alusil folks. |
Larry Taylor - 905-840-2500 Brampton, Ontario, Canada (probably just a bit north of you).
Lots of aircraft/Vega experience. |
Charlie,
Answer is, Yup! Exactly that. Thanks, PBH. |
Paul,
I just talked to Larry, what a hoot! He is very sharp as well. He quoted me $19-23 each, but I am not sure if that is CDN or USD. He new all about the stuff. He called it T-390 hypereutechtic alluminum sillicone. thanks again, Mike |
Seeing as he is a Canadian living in Canada....
Mike: let me know if you are using Larry, I could stop by and inspect his work for you. |
Does anyone know if Larry ( Brampton, Ont ) has an email address. I have 6 Alusils that are candidates for this. Can the same pistons be used after the treatment or does he change them over to Nikasils? There is some scoring on the # 1 cylinder ( Half of the second compression ring got jammed in the piston ring groove and did some damage ). Not sure if this cylinder can be reconditioned or look for new one. The other 5 are good.
Thanks Dan |
