2.7 Leak Down Test
Here's my second question for the morning. I took the valve covers off to upgrade them to turbo style covers and while open, I had a close look at the cams and rockers. Not pretty. They're coming out now and are going in for re-grind. I also did a leak-down test this weekend. This is what I found... #'s 1,2,5 & 6 are less than 5%.
#3 was a weird one in that it measured 35% and could be heard coming out the intake valve only. I looked in with a flashlight and there was debris between the valve and seat. When I cleared the debris and re-checked, it was down to 20%, but now I could hear it coming from the exhaust valve. In turning it over and rechecking several times, the lowest it got was 15%.
#4 was a steady 20% and was coming from the crank case. The engine has 130K on it with a full rebuild done at 94K. The car was neglected and when I got it, the oil was bad. I'm hoping that #4 might be just gummed up rings and that running it might help fix the problem.
What do you think and what would you do at this point.
