pros/cons to boring-replating...

Guys thinking of having a set of Alusil 3.0 95's bored to 98 (3.2) and relined with nikasil.... Good idea? Cheaper than getting new?

What are the downsides, if any... Who can do it?

It's cheaper than getting new Mahles and you have a lot more flexibility on compression ratios. The down side is, the jury is still out on J&E piston longevity. I'm glad I did it, since I got the exact configuration I wanted for half the cost of new. EBS does this, and does it well.

Good luck,

JP

If you want to bore them out to 98, I think you need to start with 3.2 cylinders, as the 3.0 95s have a sealing ring.

Good luck
