spray bar orientation
Can someone verify for me the proper alignment of the oil spray bars? When viewed from directly overhead (engine in car) I noticed that the holes on the spray bar (intake side) seem to point straight up. It would seem that this wouldn't spray the rockers, etc. but rather the underside of the valve cover. FWIW, the underside of the valve cover(intake) doesn't seem to be wet as a result. Should the underside of the valve cover be wet under normal circumstances?
From searches, I understand that the bars are staked in position and can only be correct or 180 degrees out of phase, but shouldn't the holes be aimed at the rockers or at least facing more toward the engine interior? I can't seem to find any useful pics in my Bentley or other manuals. Thanks, |
Engine in question is '83 SC 930/16

This a 964 cam tower but it's the same.
This from the top, with a mirror so you can see the other hole: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094052962.jpg This shot is looking through the bottom: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094053014.jpg Hope that helps. -Chirs |
