Exhaust ? 1972 911 & 89 3.2 Engine

I'm having a problem fitting an exhaust / muffler and looking for some advise. I have a 1972 911T converted to an RS look, including the fiberglass rear bumper. I've installed a 1989 3.2 engine but the OEM muffler that came with the engine touches the bumper.

Has anyone run into this problem or have some suggestions?

Thanks, Ben

Garage
Pics would help, but I would say you need to cut the bumper

If you are using the stock 3.2 muffler it won't fit as the outlet pipe on early cars is at a different position. You will probably need to move the outlet pipe to save cutting the bumper. Or fit SSI system and dual in/single out for 73 (or older) model year muffler.

Could you recommend a specific manufacture or dealer that stocks that type of SSI System and muffler.

Really appreciate your help. If I can't find a pre-manufactured system I'll be forced to fabracate an inlet and exhaust tip for say a fabspeed muffler.

Thanks Again, Ben

If you are going to the SSI heat exchangers then there are a variety of muffler makers. Call Pelican and ask them what they supply.

With a stock 3.2 single-in single-out muffler just go to perfomance exhaust shop and get them to make up the tip to attach to what you have now.
