Valve to Piston Clearance Check

I've done my cam timing and I'am about to start on the valve/piston clearance check. This is a dummy assembly and I was wondering if I need to install the chain tensioners or can I go with the setup I used to set the timing, ie clamp on the left and tensioning tool on the right as per Wayne's book?

Cheers
Paul M

Proceed with your mechanical tensioner setup. It's fine for checking.
