inside oil tank part??

Im changing the oil in my '82 SC and found some "part" flopping around inside the oil tank. Does anyone know what this is? I have been overheating bad lately and am thinking this "part" may be blocking oil flow. What is it/how fix? I'm in the middle of the job now so if someone knows, please respond...

Does your oil tank level gauge work?

It could be part of a broken oil level sending unit.

You will see where this mounts on the oil tank by looking at the oil tank from the right rear wheel well.

same as simon. loose float can block oil to engine. I've heard of this before. you should check this before running engine. you possibly have to remove oil tank to get part out of tank through level sender opening.
