Oil return tubes
Hey Guys,
I am in the middle of rebuilding my 930/02 and have a question. Half of the oil return tubes are the standard solid ones and half are the factory colapsable ones. Should I go back to the solids or go to the colapsable ones? Are the colapsable ones reusable? Thanks |
Yes, the collapable tubes are re-useable if you replace all the o-rings.
Wayne recommends in his book to replace them and go back to the original design, only reason I can think of is to restore originality and to eliminate potential leak points. On mine I plan to re-use the collapsable tubes with new o-rings, only becaue I am a cheap bastard and they work fine. |

The large O-rings come with the lower gasket set so I won't count those. New inner O-rings for the collapsible tubes cost 1.50 each (2 per tube) or $12 total. New solid tubes cost $8.95 or $35.80 total. So a new set of solid tubes is only $24 more than o-rings for your old collapsible ones. No drips - priceless. -Chris |
When I rebuilt my 3.2 I posed this question to John Walker and he recommended going back to the solid tubes to eliminate another potential source for an oil leak.
