Do stock cases have casting flash cleanup?
From the outside of my case, it looks like there are cracks that have been hastily cleaned up with a burr, but when I look inside there is no sign of welding or any damage. Do the raw factory cases have heavy casting flash that is quickly knocked off with a burr?
Also my VIN# is 934 while the engine is 683. Year is correct, but is it common to have the numbers so far off? Here are some pics of the case, but my camera's not to good at macros: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes I've seen those on lots of 911 cases. And yes not unusual at all to have a large distance between engine and car numbers.

I had the same markings on the inside of the case. The case halves had never been apart.

My case had the same type of marks inside and out. No sweat.
