Are there two sizes for circlips?

Hi. Me again. Just received my order for circlips. I checked and they are 22mm inside diameter. When installing them I have an overlap? Should I be using a different size? I Am trying to find one of the ones from my removal process to check but would appreciate any advice. 2.4 with original pistons and cylinders.

Cassidy,
I had the same experience - I purchased OEM Porsche clips from Pelican and there was quite a bit of overlap. I used a good pair of cutters and trimmed the clips down so that they fit in the piston like the old ones did. Wear good safety glasses when you do the cutting!

I did re-check the part numbers after the fact and everything was kosher.

Dave,

Thanks for the quick response/ suggestion. Was your experience with overlap of the circlip on a 2.4 liter engine rebuild? I wish I could find one of the ones I removed and measure it.

The piston wrist pins went from 22mm to 23mm with the '84 Carrera and (I believe) with the 3.3 Turbo. Maybe the 23mm clips overlap if you use them in a 22m wrist pin hole?

Chris, These are to fit in my 2.4 T engine. It seems that somewhere I read that 18mm size is correct. This looks about right. The ones I received are 22mm
