The best option is repairing the original MFI cams.

Elgins does not have the early small main cam blanks, with or
without the MFI drive.

Jack, Any new Porsche 911 camshaft is made from "chill cast" castings, not billets. The term billet might mislead someone into thinking the cams are made from a billet piece of round stock into a camshaft. I know the term has been used to describe the new cams more than once.

John, would you email me your contact info? In a couple of weeks I'll be pulling my 2.4E (MFI) out for a conversion to 2.7RS (MFI). I have a set of T cams on the shelf that will need to be welded / reground to original S specs. The E cams will go into storage, along with my original engine case.

Cams are cams? If a cam is properly heat treated, does it matter whence it came from? Chilled cams are another method of conditioning the metal in a cam, much like chilled rotors. It may be superior to other hardening or conditioning methods, but just how much so? Cost isn't much of an issue in the aftermarket, ie 10 cents or even a couple of bucks dosen't determine methods used like it does in mass production. I suspect ANY cam produced by most aftermarket cam shops will last longer than the intended use.

Note I said "suspect" because I do not KNOW for sure the real answer.
