Well it is rebuild week on the Carrera 3.0 down at my parents farm...
The engine has (I assume from the factory) the oil bypass modification. The oil pump is the four band late-style unit and the oil pressure pistons are the newer style with out the holes on the side. But both of the oil pressure piston springs are the same. I was being good and replacing the springs and I wanted to get the better caps, so I ordered the kit from our host. But it comes with the one spring that is longer than the other. Seeing that this controls oil pressure, I want to make sure I get it right. I would assume that my springs should be the same an early 3.0 Turbo. Do you all know what springs my engine should use? Thanks ![]()

While I don't know what your particular motor should use, I can tell you what the 3.0L SC 3.2L Carrera motors use.
While the (2) oil pressure relief pistons are the same, the springs are not. The shorter spring mounts horizontally in the side of the case and the longer spring installs vertically from the bottom of the case. With the longer spring, don't forget to install the guide as well. Hope this helps. Ralph EDIT: This seems to be what you received from Pelican. Unfortunately I can't tell you if this is correct for the earlier motor, but if it is then you will know where they are supposed to go!!! Last edited by Carrera3.5L; 11-06-2004 at 09:47 PM.. |
