I saw a review of this Orison Carbon Remover stuff. Has anyone ever used it? Does it work? Anything better?

John, some of the best carbon removers I have ever seen are sold by Johnson/Evinrude/Mercury
Carbon Removers for Two Stroke Outboard engines Spray this stuff in your engine till it chokes.... walk away for 20 minutes..Come back and refire the engine.. then walk away till the smoke clears LOL These cleaners also work on disassmbled parts I have some in my trailer...

I've used the smelly, nasty (and probably environmentally hazardous) old-fashion carb cleaner. Just immerse the part in a parts basket and 24 hours (or less) later, the part comes out clean (but smelly). Rinse with hot water then blow dry.
I've never used the water-based stuff. You are referring to "off-the-car" cleaning, yes? Sherwood |

I've tried the carb cleaner (Berrymans per Warren's recommendation), but found that it didn't do squat to the valves and stuff that I've got here. They still had a lot of really glazed on carbon. I tried wire wheels, paint stripper, oven cleaner, scraping them and combinations of those choices. That glazed on carbon is tough stuff.

use fuel injector/carburetor cleaner. The one that you put into the gas tank. Put the part from one day to the other and the carbon will go. Also works to clean the heads. Wet the carbon with the product and the use compressed air and remove tha carbon. This cleaner also work to lose the gas tank sender. Put the sender into this cleaner and wait one day and then remove it and move the sender and you will notice that the float is free.
