SC oil pump over Carrera for early engine

Previously, I was under the impression that a Carrera oil pump is preferred over an SC oil pump. Then after seeing Wayne's comment in this post:
Oil pump question for Wayne
that doesn't appear to be true. I have an early case with the sump plate having the drain plug. Seem like I should go with an SC pump so I can use my sump plate. Agree? (This will be an RS-type spec engine).

You are correct Bill. I think the reason for recommending a Carrera pump is that it may be available and it replaced the SC pump that is NLA. If you are using an old pump then any 76 or later will be fine.
