Aluminum Case?

I wanted to verify that my case is the aluminium one before I plan the rebuild:
Type: 901/05
SN: 909549

I believe this is alu case used in the 911E, am I right?

Thanks

For what it's worth E motors didn't come along until 1969 when Porsche was using magnesium so technically speaking Porsche never made an aluminum cased E motor.

The interesting thing about you case is that the serial no. is from a 67' 911 because 67' coupe motors started at 909001 and go up but the Red Book shows that 67' coupes (excluding the S) came with motor type 901/06 which was the same motor basically as the 66' 901/05 motor except that the cams had decreased overlap for the valves. So my guess is that the early 67' coupes came with motor type 901/05 like yours before being changed during the production run.

Well I guess we may have found a new data point for the Red Book.

Thanks for the info, the serial number seemed strange to me too.
