930 Cam-shaft End Covers?
I purchased a rebuilt 1987 930 motor and currently working on installing it into a 1982 Targa (converted to convertible) chassis. Pulled the '82 motor and working on swapping parts over to the 930 motor. Running into an issue with both camshaft-ends facing the front of the motor. Here is the left-side cam that drives the scavenge pump, pic on left is the '82 motor and pic on right is the rebuilt 930 motor. On the 930 motor, the end of the camshaft protrudes out to far to simply bolt the scavenge pump onto. Is there a spacer out there or any recommendations to a work-around, other than milling off the end of the cam-shaft to make it all fit?
![]() And on the right-side of the motor, another issue I'm running into with the camshaft end. Looks like I need some sort of cam block-off plate? I haven't been able to find a part number so, hoping someone on the forums can help me out. Again, the pic on the left is the '82 motor and the pic on the right is the rebuilt 930 motor. The old motor, looks like there is some sort of cap installed that doesn't look like it's going to pry off. ![]() Appreciate any help or insight anyone can provide me with! Thanks a lot! |

The plug for the back is a standard part from 78 on. About $10 from Porsche 93010516100
The extension of the cam has a seal like the crank seal. 99910324140. I think Bruce Last edited by Flat6pac; 01-19-2016 at 03:40 PM.. |

Thanks for the replies... I've gone ahead and ordered the plug. Still trying to find the seal for the extended cam.
And yes, I will be running a scavenge pump for the turbo (or turbos, still deciding if I want to go twin-turbo or not). |

The seal is in the aluminum housing that the scavenge pump attaches to. The housing attaches to the cam tower.there's also a spacer between the cam and the pump held on with two allen head bolts, the heads of which turn the pump.
