Machine shop in Bay Area for my T
 

Hi. Can you guys recommend a machine shop in the Bay Area? I'm not doing anything fancy, just following Wayne's book letter-by-letter on my '70 T :) (and going 2.2 -> 2.4).

I've seen Waynes recommendations, but they look pretty exotic, plus I'd like to avoid the waiting list.

Do you really mean a machine shop, or do you mean an engine rebuilder, what parts (of the book) are you looking to have worked on and what are you looking to have done.

Many of the shops send their stuff to specialists like CCR, so be sure to ask if they do the work in house or are shipping it out. You may be able to speed things up if you deal directly with the person doing the work.

I've got the engine torn down. I'd like to send the case off to get cleaned, measured, oil bypass, squrters, case savers

Heads rebuilt.

Cyls cleaned and honed. Pistons cleaned and inspected.

That's a start :)

The long-stroke crank I bought has supposedly been checked out, but I wouldn't mind a recheck as well.

And the rods checked and bushings pressed if necessary.

You can take the crank to Armando at Custom Crankshaft Repair in San Mateo. That's where Ted would take the crank. Armando will mag your rods too so bring those while your at it. I know Armando has had a very bad rap but he's done very well for me....maybe because I live close to his shop?

I have all the special tools you need to rebuild your engine and I'd be happy to loan them to you.

BTW...I'm acquiring an engine dyno as well so you can test your motor at my house before you install it!

Looks like Ted and Armando have it covered. That's exactly what I was looking for.

Felmir -- that's awesome about the dyno, seems like a big deal to be able to tweek stuff without having to install in the car.
