number 8 nose bearing-do i need to replace it?
how can i tell if my number 8 nose bearing is any good? do they fail? do you HAVE to replace it?
Andy |
most shops will say no.....most of us do anyway cause were insequre and all ready there...............
|
I would think that as long as it's still in spec, it would be fine. Not sure what spec is on these but it doesn't seem like a part that needs to be replaced.
|
hmmm........

Maybe you should document what type of engine your building. That might help some of the experts to chime in on replace vs. reuse.
|
it gets particles imbedded into it just like the rest of the bearings. in fact, it is a bearing. it also takes a lot of side load from running the a/c and alternator. replace it.
|
just pulled it off the end of the crank and i can see a an area that seems to have been taking a loading on both the inside and outside bearing surface. me thinks its time to buy a new one.
thanks for your advice blokes Andy |
It's a good bet to replace it, although you can spec it out and check it against the dimensions in the Engine Book to see if it's still in spec.
