Dazed and Confused..Am I supposed to have intermediate shaft inner bearings???

I'm perplexed........I see online Pelican part # Intermediate Shaft Inner Bearings, 2 Per Car, 911 (1969-73), Each
T-101-435-70 $5.25

However!: .......
Wayne's book page 127 states..."If you have a stock early case (1965-1969), then the intermediate shaft rides directly in the metal of the case."

So I'm concerned if maybe I lost these bearings on dis-assembly, as my early case shows no sign of these, nor do I see these laying around anywhere.

How can I tell?

The case would have lock tabs in the bearing bore if it used an insert.

OK, I think you're referring to the insert notches?

I went over the extensive digitals I fortunately took of dis-assembly, and found the one below. It appears that there is no inner bearing(s), as the adjacent crank bearing can just barely be seen to the right as a bright silver.

It is quite easy to tell, lay the shaft in the cutouts and see if there is any room for a bearing to fit. From that picture it looks like a bearing would not fit in the space.

Look for the tangs in the case, as shown on page 127. I think the catalog is written that way, because some of the late 1969 cases had the bearings? Factory documentation is weak on this issue...
