Andial Twin Plug Conversion
I am trying to decide whether or not to twin plug the 3.0 liter motor that I am rebuilding for my RSR clone.
The car will be used for both for the street and for Vintage racing and I want to preserve the vintage look of the twin plug distributor, however I am a little shy of the cost of the Marelli or if I can even find one. I've read about the twin plug distributor conversions that have been done by Andial on this site. I have several questions about this: Does Andial still do these? What is the cost including the cap and rotor? What type of distributor is needed for the conversion? What experience have people had with this conversion. As always, your experience and comments are a great help to me. |
You're going to pay a lot for that "vintage" look and get something that just doesn't perform as well as an HPX ignition kit. These are about $1,500 these days, and you never need to buy a $700 distributor cap...

Follow this thread (We are all waiting to find out how much the rotors will cost) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/173248-twin-plug-goodness-look-what-i-made-weekend.html Neven |
I spoke with Andial about this maybe three months ago. They said they were not doing any conversions because caps are unavailable. I don't know if this has changed. I got a 964 distributor from EBS Racing and had Rennsport Systems convert it using my SC distributor, all for less than a Marelli cap.

Is the 964 conversion that you describe a twin head distributor conversion (ie two six plug distributor caps)?
