What is the purpose of the two holes inside the #8 nose bearing?
What is the purpose of these two holes in the nose bearing seen below at approx. 2:00 o'clock and 6:00? (They can also be seen in the rebuild book photo 3-11)

I think they are lubrication for the bearing surfaces (oil flow).

They are pressure relief holes that prevent overloading the front seal and allow oil to escape from the bearing in the forward direction.
