Proper Cam Tool Question / Selection

I have a 85 3.2 that I'm going to go through soon and am amassing parts and things. I'm investing in a few P-car engine tools. In Waynes book he states that the earlier engines had one style of cam nut, then starting with the 3.2 it had a different (updated) style/fixture. But the changeover was not concurrent to the earlier 3.2 it would seem.

In other words is it possible that my engine still has the earlier style cam sprocket nut?? I would like to know because I want to buy the tool now instead of waiting when I get it apart to find out. Thanks.:)

My 82 had the lower newer style cam nut, so I would think the changeover was complete by 85.

The changeover was supposed to be done in 1980, but my 1982 had the older-style nut...
