whats the best Cam for a 3.5L Mahle Conversion
I am in the middle of converting my 3.2 to a 3.5L using Mahle Pistons and Barrels. I will also be using a Motec M48 Pro to manage the engine as well as throttle boddies.
Whats the hotest Cam grind I can use while retaining street drivability and smooth idle. My intention is for the car to be a fast road car with occassional track day use. I'd like the power to be wide ranging rather than only available at high revs like the early 'S' cars. Any help very welcome. Pete |

The Mod-S cam is awesome. It is the early S cam, but with the lobe centers widened. It really has a nice broad power band, and still has the nice build up of power as the revs rise. It's a terrific cam for bigger motors.
I assume your compression ratio will be somewhere above 9.8/1? |
second the MOD S cam. I have them on my 3.0 and they work well.

my compression ratio is 10.3:1. Hence the twin spark! The Mod-S sounds like its worth checking out. Does it give a smooth idle and provide good drivability on the street at llow reves. Also, do you know the dwell, lift and lobe centre information from the mod-s cam. Also, where I can it from? Is it a regrind or billet build from scratch? Cheers Pete |

I think Web-cam sells them outright. Maybe Elgin can re-grind your cams, but I'm not sure if there is enough meat on stock 3.2 cams to get the lift and duration. |

Send Paul Thomas a PM also. I think he is running a GE80 in his twin plugged 3.5 MFI motor. IIRC, this is a pretty aggressive cam.
