Something to be worried about?

Looking at purchasing an SC crank for my 3.2SS project, and it has this on it: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1108020511.jpg

The little line on the flywheel end I'm assuming should not be there...doesn't run deeply, hardly catches the fingernail, but is it something that needs to be worried about? I asked the guy if the motor leaked from there, he told me no. Is that my answer right there? Thanks

That's where the rear main seal edged the surface of the crank. If you can barely catch your fingernail on it is ok. Any more and you could either turn it down .005"-.008" or someone may make a sleeve 'kit' that fits over the surface.

IMO it looks fine and OK to use.
