Turned engine on stand - something fell out
 

It might have been inside a heat exchanger or sitting between the pulley and engine mounting bar, which I put back on to hoist engine to stand . It looks like it's an alloy spacer but I can't figure where it goes. It's got faint water corrosion inside

You must have the top end off, it is a spacer for the Throttle plate under the shroud. With the plate off you can see where it goes on the 8mm stud and it just slides off with the motor upside down
