dumb question #153: has anyone ever tried splitting each cylinder wire and thus connecting each distr output directly to two plugs? would you get an equal amount of energy to each plug?

Nope. It doesn't work that way. What would happend is that only one plug would get the spark. The one that has smallest gap.

Yup, my budget 930 project is going the MSII + EDIS route.

A new EDIS ignition controller and coil pack can be had for less than $100.

MSII can be had for less than $300.

I have an EDIS trigger wheel from a ford V6 I might use but I am also concidering making a custom unit that is incremented every 5 degrees instead of 10 and has two missing notches on oppositve sides of the wheel so I can set up an ignition trigger where the air pump drive pulley on the left crank used to be. I need keep the pulley housing since my turbo scavenge pump mounts on top of it so I figured I might take advantage of it assuming the inductive pickup can deal with the tighter trigger notch spacing.

Since everything is apart and I am planning on putting my massive 930 pressure plate on a diet I might notch the continuous path around its side and set up a trigger on the bell housing instead.

Ah, so many possibilities, and all so cheap when you can do it yourself.

As far as reliability goes the EDIS in my ford escort is still running perfectly after 220,000+ miles. Thats good since its supplies the trigger signal for the EFI.

Yup. After reading the FAQ on MegaSuirt, I am sold. I just finished printing the whole mnaual 5 minutes ago.

well one more thing b4 you jump, check coast of Simple Digital System and thir upgrades......you might be pleasently surprised

Base system is about a grand. Not a bad price. I still figure I could do a Megasquirt cheaper building it myself, but for someone looking for a turnkey solution, looks pretty nice.
