What to use for 8.1 commpresson on turbo Motor
I am in the process of rebuild the motor (top end)
it is currently 1984 3.2 turbo @9.5:1 what are my options to achieve 8.1:1 compression Thank You |
If you have good ring seal you could install a different set of cams that would A) Be compatible with a street turbo set-up and B) Bleed off some of your existing cylinder pressure which will have the same effect as reducing the mechanical compression ratio.
PM John (Camgrinder) for advise |
How about Mahle 98mm turbo pistons?
|
Tony,
I am having my cylinders bored and Nikasil plated to match 98 mm JE pistons. I'm not going to go as low in CR as you will, but I believe the JE pistons can be ordered with the CR you want. I'm building a 3.4 Turbo. |
I wanted to do what wydryd was interested in

If you mean by boring and replating..that's what I'm doing.
|
Does anyone have a pic of a JE 98mm piston dome? I was wondering if they do custom compressions AND custom domes for those of us that have twin-plugged our engines.
|
I had JE make custom pistons for me. You can see a pic at:
http://www.brookstonefarms.com/930rebuild_page2.htm I am building a motor that has a stroked (964) crank, super 964 cams, custom 98mm pistons and 3.2L cylinders bored out to 98mm (better cooling than the 3.3 cylinders and A LOT cheaper than Mahle). The compression is 8.0:1 with very little dome on the pistons. |
Thanks, Don
