head stud question
If I understand some of what I have read and Wayne's book ...., it is OK to use OEM steel studs on a 930 rebuild? Also, can steel studs be re-used?

Yes and Yes. However, they are not that expensive.

I had the same question a few days ago. I rang Steven at Imagine Autos and while I was ordering a new K27 7200 I spoke to him about the correct head stud for replacing my Dilivars. Basically as I understand it replacing the Dilivar is a good idea. If the engine will be mainly stock (up to 400hp) then original steel studs (Not 993 studs) will be fine, above this sort of number then ARP/Supertec/Raceware is the way to go.
My research on the board shows that there are three separate camps on the issue of 930 head studs. 1. Those who say hang the expense and put the ARP/Raceware/Supertec stud in and do it properly. 2. Those who say the 930 motor gets a lot hotter and the Dilivar is the best stud for that engine regardless of corrosion issues, and 3. Those who say the original 911 steel studs will suffice (there may be issues using the 993 steel studs) on mostly stock motors. (see the picture posted by DonE here ) One of the key considerations I am dealing with is whether using an ARP stud, whilst being an overkill for my 3.3ltr they may increase the potential resale of the vehicle more than the cost of the studs. My choice seems to be 1 or 3 if I choose 3 then I have enough cash left over for a performance exhaust.

If you are looking to turn the power up go with the ARP studs. I have used them for years, and they are the best studs out there. As for the resale idea...you can forget ever getting out of a porsche rebuild what you put into it
