I am purchasing a crankcase that is reputed to be from a 77 Euro Carrera 3.0.
The seller stated that the casting numbers on the case halves were: 930.101.103 5R and 930.101.103.6R I believe these are the correct part numbers, can anyone verify this for me? Thanks!

Do you have the serial number or engine type off the top of thecase by the fan mount? That is the best way to tell.

No, but I can get it when I talk to him on the phone later. I just don't have any of my P-car books at work with me. Is the engine type number the one that's on the upright on the side of the fan housing support?

The serial number will be on the upright. The engine type will be on the flat that the upright meets. Both will be stamped in the case not raised like the casting number.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out tonight. I've already jotted down all of the possible engine type numbers for both turbo and NA early 3.0 cases.

Mike, the cases you are looking for should have engine type #
930/02 and 930/12 with serial no. 666XXXX or 667XXXX The same case is used in the 76-77 turbo, engine type 930/52 This is What Wayne had to say about the case. HOLY MOLY! Check out what I found at Pomona today!!! |

Thanks Souk. It sounds like the one I've located is legit, I hope to confirm it tonight and then close the deal. I'll let you know if I find another one. :-)

I just keep thinking about what a 2.8 RSR motor spinning at 8000 rpm would sound like. I'm sure I'll end up blowing my budget for building my car all to hell, but I don't plan on ever selling it so it's irrelevant. If for some reason I don't end up buying it I'll give you the contact information Souk!

I'm not sure I can afford it either, but I'm going to scrape up every penny I can since they're so darn hard to find. It's the one thing I can justify setting myself back for!

Glad you found a good case.
I might be interested in the case. If you pass, PM me.

Will do Jamie. I plan on buying it unless the price is at the high end of what's reasonable.

Nice score! These are not real easy to find.
type 930/02, 930/52 both have the smaller journals for the 66mm crank or a 6 bolt 70.4mm crank. 2.8 RSR was 70.4mmx92mm - dont spin to 8000RPM with a 6 bolt 70.4mm crank. Usually 11+:1 when using 2.7 or 2.4 heads. Plan on twin plugs and bleanding race gas. Huge torque, huge power to weight ratio, lots of fun, etc. 2.8 short stroke is 95mmx66mm - should be bulletproof to 8000RPM. Either way it should be a hoot |

Woooohooo! S+ cams, right? You should be able to run a crazy cam with that compression and the short stroke.
